报告内容:
Complex fluids and soft matter give rise to rich hydrodynamic behavior. The level of detail and the length scales we are interested in largely determine the approaches we use to simulate such behavior. Starting from the macroscopic scales it will be shown how structured liquids give rise to time-dependent non-Newtonian effects (thixotropy) that have profound impact on the way such liquids mix. We then zoom in on mesoscopic descriptions of liquid-liquid (emulsion) flow with a focus on break-up and coalescence of droplets under simple shear and turbulent conditions, to finally end up at simulations at the molecular level where we try to accurately describe three-phase (liquid-liquid-solid) moving contact lines.
