The realization of low-cost hydrogen economy electrochemically hinges on substantial improvements in new materials that effectively catalyze four fundamental reactions, i.e., oxygen evolution reaction (OER), hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), and hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR). Idea electrocatalysts must be highly active, stable and geologically abundant. Although recent advances in the development of heterogeneous catalysts to negotiate the above reactions, substantial progresses are still impeded by the lack of inexpensive catalytic materials that enable high current densities at low overpotentials over prolonged time periods. Over the past years, we have been paying intensive attention on transition metal chalcogenide structures for designing electrocatalysts. In this talk, we will report on our recent efforts on the synthesis of transition metal chalcogenide nanostructures, as well as grafting related hybrid materials for advanced electrolysis. Systematic studies demonstrated that the electrocatalytic performances of these transition metal chalcogenide hybrids can be much improved because of their modified electrocatalytic interface, engineered electronic structure, and/or the combined catalytic proficiencies. The promising applications of transition metal chalcogenides for several important electrochemical reactions, such as OER, HER, and methanol-tolerant ORR will be highlighted.

报告人简介:

高敏锐研究员在中国科学技术大学获得博士学位。曾先后在美国特拉华大学、美国阿贡国家实验室以及德国马普学会胶体与界面研究所从事博士后研究。现为合肥微尺度物质科学国家实验室研究员。主要从事新型高效非贵金属氢电极材料和氧电极材料的设计、合成及应用。迄今为止,在《Chem. Soc. Rev.》、《Nat. Commun.》、《J. Am. Chem. Soc.》、《Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.》、《Adv. Mater.》、《Adv. Funct. Mater.》、《ACS Nano》等国际重要刊物上发表50 余篇学术论文,文章总引用次数达2,431次,H 因子为25。原创性成果多次被选为国际期刊的封面,同时受到美国能源部,德国Chemistry & Industry,Materials Views China, PhysOrg, UDaily等学术机构和媒体报道,并被Science,Chem. Rev.等顶级期刊引用和评述。曾获中科院优秀博士学位论文、中科院院长特别奖等奖项。
