报告人简介:
Prof. Chris Hardacre is Head of the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science at the University of Manchester. He obtained a PhD from Cambridge University in 1994. He moved to Queen’s University, Belfast (QUB) in 1995 as a lecturer in Physical Chemistry and in 2003, he was appointed as Professor of Physical Chemistry. In 2016, he moved to the University of Manchester. Prof. Hardacre received a USAF Window on Science Visiting Research Fellowship in 2004, the RSC Teamwork in Innovation Award with Merck in 2005, and becoming the inaugural winner of IChemE’s Andrew Medal for Catalysis in 2013. He is now a Fellow of the IChemE and the Royal Society of Chemistry and an elected member of the Royal Irish Academy, as well as being a Co-Principal Investigator for the UK Catalysis Hub. His research interests include heterogeneous catalysis, In-situ method development, ionic liquids, neutron scattering and structure-reactivity correlations. He has published over 350 papers, 9 patents, 6 book chapters and has an H-index of 57.
报告内容:
This presentation will outline the range of research currently being undertaken focussing on the use of heterogeneous catalysts for bulk and fine chemical production in both the liquid and gas phase. A series of new techniques which can provide insights into the mechani**s of the reactions such as emission control catalysis and hydrogenations in the liquid phase will be described. In addition, the potential application of non-thermal pla**as will be shown as an alternative method of activating catalytic systems. Finally, a case study showing the importance of combined theory and experiment together with engineering for the hydrogenation of acids and amides in the liquid phase will be shown to illustrate the key principles which underpin the interdisciplinary approach.
